Jurisdiction – Consultation on Potential New HCCH Convention Launched

The Hague Conference on Private International law (“HCCH”) has launched a public consultation on a draft convention developed by the HCCH Working Group on the Jurisdiction Project. The proposed instrument, which would form part of the suite of HCCH conventions, would be complementary to the 2005 Hague Choice of Court Convention and also the 2019 Hague Judgments Convention and would address parallel proceedings and related actions initiated in two or more contracting states at the same time. The consultation is seeking feedback on whether the draft convention would assist in addressing those matters, as well as how the draft wording could be improved. Responses are due by 26 January 2026. For further details, see HCCH update here.
