Annual Electricity Network Charges
The Commission for Regulation of Utilities ("CRU") approves the annual electricity network charges for 2025/2026 on 26 August 2025. The approved charges came into effect from 1 October 2025. The full decision was confirmed in the annual Transmission information paper and Distribution information paper. The allowed revenues for transmission are increased by ~6.5% year-on-year, and the allowed revenues for distribution are increased by ~12% year-on year.
Competitive MAC Framework
The Maritime Area Regulatory Authority ("MARA") launches a consultation on the competitive Maritime Area Consent ("MAC") framework on 21 August 2025.
The MAC framework is intended to support the timely and sustainable delivery of offshore renewable energy projects in Ireland. The competitive MAC framework is intended to complement Ireland’s plan-led approach to offshore renewable energy development and to support the achievement of national climate and energy targets.
