A number of significant macro themes continue to drive the pace of regulation in the investment funds space. Inflation, deglobalisation, technological innovation, demographic shifts, geopolitical conflict and the target of a net zero future have all contributed to the introduction of a wave of legislation and regulation at a rate many feel presents challenges to considered implementation.

Despite the end of the current term of the European Commission ("Commission") this year, which can sometimes afford some breathing space - as no new legislative proposals are put forward in anticipation of the re-constitution of the Commission - there is, as always, plenty to keep fund managers busy from a compliance perspective in the coming months.
